Creative vs. Counterfeit

If you find yourself asking yourself (and your friends), “Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?” chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death.” - Steven Pressfield

I love this quote. I constantly question, where am I going with this? What am I doing? Should I be pursuing a "real" degree? What does it mean when I shoot two hundred photos, and don't really like any of them? Are the photos I'm taking really art or, am I just so obsessed with it wanting to be art that I try too hard to make it art when its not supposed to be, when it isn't? How do I know if the work I'm producing is good? Why can't it all just be objective rather than subjective? It's ok though, I just have to keep shooting.

La La Lemonade

I like lemons, I think they're pretty. I like the color, the the way they look in a pretty bowl, the design you see when you cut them open, the aroma they provide, the flavor they add.... Naturally, I like lemonade; a sweet, yet tart beverage. I love how it makes me think of childhood, when I'd make pitchers of it with my friend Annie, trying to sell it those who passed by as we stood at the end of the driveway.  I'm not sure if we ever made more than a dollar, maaaybe two. No worries though, we never went thirsty ;)

Out on the Water

We had planned and were looking forward to this day for months: boating - a day out on the water to absorb the sun, be away from the other stress of life, and a day to relax. It didn't disappoint :)

i love the tubing, the wake boarding, skiiing, all of it. however, one of the best parts of being on a boat is
sittin' up front, putting your feet up andfeeling the wind in your hair as you fly over the water....
lookin' like stud!! :D
so Rachel used to ski competitively....
happy camper :)
the broken down process of getting out of the water
the one and only way Landon stops: a wipe out
Matt being helped into the water by Landon and James after putting the wake board on.

The 4th of July

So I'm a little late, but the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, maybe because it's kind of like the summer version of Thanksgiving; lots of food, fun and relaxation.
fireworks
The Grill Master
David showin' out
drinks for the grown ups :)
the boys fighting for the ball

the backyard :)
Thank you so much to the men and women who make celebrating the 4th of July possible. May the Lord richly bless you and your families.
