personalized peach pie

i think i was cursed given sweet teeth rather than a sweet tooth. seriously. i would eat dessert after every meal if i could. when matt asked where i wanted to go for my birthday dinner, i knew where i wanted to go to for dessert before i knew where i wanted to go to dinner. so, when i found this dessert online somewhere, i knew i needed to try it. it's pretty much the perfect summer dessert: easy, fruity, and light, meaning you can eat this five nights in a row and not feel bad about it! :)

you need:
1 ripe nectarine {you could use a peach, plum, apricot.....}
1 crescent roll
about 1 tsp of honey
brown sugar {optional}

simply cut the pit out of the nectarine and replace with honey.
next, wrap the nectarine in the crescent roll. if you like,
put a little brown sugar at the top of the roll to make it just a tiny bit sweeter.
then bake at 350F for 12-15 minutes until the crescent is golden. serve hot.
for maximum deliciousness serve with vanilla ice cream :)

midnight rolls

hey matt,

remember that time we baked cinnamon rolls at midnight and watched white collar? we both had to be at work at 8 am but it was worth it.

love you.

himym + energy levels + dessert

for the past few days, my energy level has been slightly better than that of a dead sloth. i mean yesterday after an intense six hours of reading my book at work, i went home, talked to a friend, and then sllllllllowly cooked dinner and folded some of the mountain of laundry, while watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother. now, there really is nothing wrong with having a day (or two in my case) like that but i'm pretty convinced that laziness breeds laziness and energy breeds energy. so, in hopes to break the laziness cycle, here are my goals in writing.

today i will:
1.workout
2. finish sanding the desk (i've been putting it off like a champ)
3. by the primer AND the paint for the desk

tomorrow i will:
1. get up at 7am - not 7:10
2. work out
3. prime the desk

and this, this right here is the reason i am working out this week.

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the food, I love having people around, I love the atmosphere and the memories that come with. This Thanksgiving was particularly memorable for a number of different reasons.

1. I'm married.
2. first holiday as a married woman
3. not with my family
4. on a cruise with my husband
5. the food

The pre-appetizer was bread and butter - you really can't go wrong with that
Caesar salad was the actual appetizer
The main course was filet mignon - I'm not sure if it was really filet mignon because it tasted just like any other piece of beef
and the fruit was my "pre" dessert
the best part of every dinner on the cruise: chocolate melting cake. I ate the gooey goodness 5 nights in a row...
and washed it down with a cappuccino

The Power of Chocolate

Yesterday started out as one of those days. Nothing bad happened, actually I was just tired and irritable! My little sister kindly baked me some brownies and whatdoyaknow?!?! With a big old chunk of chocolate and strong iced latte, my mood got a whole lot better :)

mmm mmm good :)

La La Lemonade

I like lemons, I think they're pretty. I like the color, the the way they look in a pretty bowl, the design you see when you cut them open, the aroma they provide, the flavor they add.... Naturally, I like lemonade; a sweet, yet tart beverage. I love how it makes me think of childhood, when I'd make pitchers of it with my friend Annie, trying to sell it those who passed by as we stood at the end of the driveway.  I'm not sure if we ever made more than a dollar, maaaybe two. No worries though, we never went thirsty ;)

A Coffee Post

I have a healthy addiction to coffee; it treats me well, so I indulge in it daily. Here are some rather fun facts about :)

Coffee BERRIES grow on trees
Ethiopian shepherds first understood the effects of caffeine when their goats ate the berries and were a little more high strung afterwards
Hawaii is the only state in the US that grows coffee in the Bean Belt, legit place, smack in between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn
Espresso is not a particular type of coffee bean, its just the way it's prepared :)
