more than willing

It was grueling, laborious work. Sounding out the vowels individually and then slowly blending them together; word after word, page after page. He sat there with me, wanting to help, but unwilling to do it for me. Finally I did it, I read a whole page of a chapter book, own my own. He was there right beside me, so proud when I finished.

A few short years later, I remember him peering into my bedroom from the hall. I should have been sleeping hours ago, but hadn't been able to put the book down. He'd give me that look that said lights out now. He described it as a wonderful problem.

Thank you Dad for being more willing to help but not doing it for me. Happy Father's Day.

Sweet Simplicity

We kept it simple. Simple dinner. Quite. Just me and him. No busy crowds. No waiting to be seated. We got our tried and true dessert: a m&m blast and a strawberry sundaee. And it was lovely.

Hellllo Twenty Twelve

New Year's. I realize that I am two weeks late but better late than never! We spent some time in Nashville, had a great day at the zoo, went to the game, and enjoyed a Zac Brown Band concert. Our stay in Chattanooga was brief, but lovely none the less. I love Chattanooga - the mountains, the artistic city, beautiful scenery, and the fact that we have great friends there doesn't hurt either :) Once again, I must thank my husband for being patient with me while taking photos. I definitely owe him :)

i have no idea what building this is, so we'll just call it the pretty one.
we went out for dessert for New Year's to this really....shall we say eclectic restaurant. in all honesty, the food was pretty boring, but it was great none the less.
and how we welcomed 2012: champagne and sparklers
Happy Friday!!

The 4th of July

So I'm a little late, but the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, maybe because it's kind of like the summer version of Thanksgiving; lots of food, fun and relaxation.

Thank you so much to the men and women who make celebrating the 4th of July possible. May the Lord richly bless you and your families.
